Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin Opens Subgrant Applications to
MIDLAND, Texas - The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin (LCPB) is now accepting applications for its annual literacy subgrants, available through October 31, 2025. These grants, typically up to $5,000 per organization, are designed to help strengthen and expand literacy services across the region.
Each year, LCPB awards subgrants to small, often volunteer-run literacy providers that serve learners throughout West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. The funding helps build organizational capacity by supporting essential needs such as:
- Classroom curriculum and learning materials
- Technology and software for instruction
- Staffing or tutoring support
- Other resources that directly enhance literacy programming
"Many local literacy organizations operate with limited resources but have an incredible impact on their communities. These subgrants help them reach more learners, strengthen their programs, and continue changing lives through literacy."
- Letticia Martinez, Executive Director of the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin
To qualify, applicants must be current LCPB member organizations within the Coalition's 22-county service area. Membership provides access to additional benefits such as professional training, program assessments, and networking opportunities.
"By investing in these grassroots programs, we're investing in the future of our region. When learners gain literacy skills, they gain access to better jobs, stronger families, and healthier communities."
- Letticia Martinez
Interested organizations can find the application and eligibility details on the LCPB website. Applications will be accepted through October 31, 2025.
