Dr. Sharon Cannon has more than 30 years of leadership experience as an administrator in nursing education and a director in the clinical arena. Her distinguished career reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing nursing practice through education, research, and health literacy.

A nationally and internationally recognized speaker, Dr. Cannon has presented at numerous conferences across global, national, state, regional, and local levels, sharing her expertise in evidence-based teaching, nursing education, and health literacy. She has authored two textbooks on research and evidence-based teaching, published 27 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and served as a consultant for hospitals, schools of nursing, and professional nursing organizations.

Dr. Cannon’s passion for health literacy has guided her work in developing English and Spanish health literacy assessment tools alongside colleagues, and she has achieved formal specialization in health literacy. Beyond her scholarly and consulting contributions, she serves on multiple community, state, and national boards and committees, and acts as a reviewer for manuscripts, abstracts, and grants for several professional journals and organizations.
