Midland, TX - The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin, in partnership with the Arts Council and local author Rosie Talley, is bringing the joy of reading to young students through a special Storytime and Book Delivery initiative with their Books for Bright Futures Program. Throughout February, students at five local elementary schools will receive engaging storytime sessions and free books, fostering a love for reading and creativity.
Scheduled Visits:
- South Elementary - February 4th, 10:00-11:00 AM
- Burnet Elementary - February 7th, 9:30-11:00 AM
- Bunche Elementary - February 12th, 9:30-11:15 AM
- De Zavala Elementary - February 19th, 9:30-10:30 AM
- Jones Elementary - February 20th, 9:45-10:30 AM
This collaboration brings together literacy and the arts to inspire young minds. Students will not only enjoy interactive storytelling sessions but also receive books to build their personal libraries, reinforcing the importance of literacy at home and in the classroom.
"Books have the power to open new worlds, and we want every child to have that opportunity."
"We are thrilled to partner with the Arts Council and Rosie Talley to make reading an exciting and engaging experience for these students," said Letticia Martinez, Executive Director of The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin.
Community members and media are encouraged to support and spread the word about this initiative as we work together to nurture a lifelong love of reading in Midland's youth.
