New Mexico Junior College - Larry Hanna Workforce Development Building, Hobbs, New Mexico

This event is free, with breakfast and lunch provided. Seats are limited.

Presented by the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin

Literacy opens doors to better jobs, stronger paychecks, and a workforce ready to compete. Join the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin for a full day dedicated to closing the gap between education and opportunity across Southeastern New Mexico.

Hear from keynote speaker Steve Sauceda, NMJC Vice President of Workforce Development, and dive into breakout sessions covering financial literacy, health literacy, GED-to-career pathways, workforce readiness, and library engagement strategies. Local experts from Essential Education, Burlington English, Skillpoint Alliance, Lea County State Bank, and Carlsbad Library will lead the conversations.

Panel Participants: Sandra Borges (PY Foundation), Meghan Mooney (Mewbourne Oil Company), Adrian Carrasco (Premier Energy), Steve Sauceda (NMJC Workforce Development), and Lyndsey White (Permian Resources), who will discuss what it takes to build a literate, work-ready community. TJ Parks of JF Maddox will moderate the panel.

Connect with local vendors, network with community partners, and leave with practical tools to strengthen literacy efforts in your community, organization, or classroom.
